Re: The Burning Question...?

It's a forged piston problem. The pistons warm up easily. The problem is they warm up faster than the bore and if you are impatient you'll get a 4 corner seizure because the piston is now too big for the bore. Take some time to properly warm the engine and then proper bore to piston clearances are m...

Re: The Burning Question...?

I heard complains on Bill Wilson engines. I sat in a conversation with Bill Wilson and Brian Turfrey. Bill kept trying to get specs on Brian’s pipes. Brian was not going for it. The interesting part was when Brian was building an RZ500 engine. Brian called Bill Wilson and asked Bill on Gus cranks w...

Re: The Burning Question...?

On my previous threads here. I never mention Brian once. Really? You forced yourself into this discussion and gave the O.P. attitude while bringing Turfrey into it. https://www.rzrd500.com/500phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=17251&hilit=turfrey&start=15 And here https://www.rzrd500.com/500phpBB3/view...

Re: The Burning Question...?

John I will continue to make my point so no one gets burned. I saw the bike from ATR. Again the frame that was used was wrong and the engine it was supported with 8mm bolts in the front Why didn’t your favorite shop used rails to support the engine. Do I have to post pictures again to prove how wro...

Re: The Burning Question...?

John At least I have the intelligence to recognize the proper way in supporting an engine. I will say the majority of the members won’t put anything in writing but have agree with me So anyone not seeing things your way has no intelligence? I think we'd all like to see details here about most membe...

Re: The Burning Question...?

lucky mike I saw first hand the work of ATR on the 3XV frame with the RZ500 engine. The way the engine was supported with 8mm bolts from the head. The carburetors were at an angle when the bike was level. That was not good for the float bowls. I'm having two RZ500 engines built. One will be for my ...

Re: Upper crankcase

Case are a matched set, that's why the same identifier (number) will be written on both upper and lower cases. They are line bored as a set and if you replace only one half you run the risk of your crank(s) being misaligned with undesirable consequences.

Re: Very Rare 1986 RZ500S in Germany

A rare 1986 1 of 150 stinky old 500 that somehow managed to find its way from Canada to Germany. A stinky old 500 with 900 original kms. Stink has been commanding lofty prices recently. I saw the Metzeler tires and though that most considering the purchase would agree that replacing 37 year old tire...

Very Rare 1986 RZ500S in Germany

Was surprised to find this rare (1 of 150 and Canada only) 1986 RZ500S in Germany. Looks to be in flawless condition with only 900 km on the odometer. I'm typically skeptical about such claims, but this one does appear to be legitimate. High Price, but given the rarity and condition I think it's jus...

Main Tank 1.7ltr
Sub Tank 0.3ltr
So 2ltr in total

Don't know when the oil light comes on from full though
Remember that the RZV500 does not have the sub tank, so you only have what's in the main tank.

Re: Oil light

The problem with the low oil light is that when it comes on it may already be too late. The oil level gauge assembly works by having the internal float drop to the bottom and grounding the circuit and turning on the oil light when the oil level drops below the very bottom of the oil level gauge asse...

Re: 1984 RZ500 clutch slipping BADLY

Or you have used oil that has friction modifiers. In that case you may now need new friction plates.
