You've tried mikuni 28 & 34's before these SC's? And burned a plug? Regarding the float drain screws, if mikuni makes them as a bolt instead of screw that would solve the clearance problem - I haven't looked into this yet. I'm not much different weight wise, and that always made a difference on 500 cc singles(2 & 4 stroke) and old ducati twins.
