Re: smallest battery

Yes, you are right. AGM. Thanks for the education on the matter. [quote="trix"]Hi There's a bit of confusin in this thread now about battery types; The house alarm types (Powersonic and Yausa etc) are being described as gel types whereas they are AGM type ( http://www.parts-express.com/ped...

Re: smallest battery

I would look into the use of a gel cell battery, the type commonly used in home alarms. Smaller and cheaper with excellent quality and serviceability, you may find just what you are looking for without sacrificing amperage. Here's an example of what I use with the RG500: http://www.parts-express.com...

Re: smallest battery

When the motor quits (it happens) the lights go out. If you experience motor failure at speed you will find out why battery powered lights are mandated for street use. All electric power for the bike's lights and electronics (sans ignition) are supplied by the battery which is kept charged by the st...

Re: New crankwebs

Never quite understood the need for anonymity on this site. What continent are you on? The inner crank shaft is easily bent in re-assembly which causes all kinds of issues when trying to true the crank. If you have visible wobble with the inner bearings, that crank is stuffed. Yamaha didn't trust an...

Re: Con rod meets cylinder - advice needed

If the rods aren't factory 47X rods, I would suspect that the aftermarket rod has a larger big end support area and is the root of your problem.

Re: TZR500 Race bike

In my opinion, the motor wouldn't care less about a 15 gr difference between front and rear piston and crank assemblies. It would probably perform better without the extra weight added just from being lighter overall (splitting hairs here). Pistons on the same crank, that's another matter. If they a...

Re: kpke RZ500 resto/mod

This filter requires the use of a Mad Beaver kit to create the flange for the filter to mount to. Without the replacement carb flange plates, the filter is useless. Do you have such a kit and are looking for replacement filters for it? Are you aware of the jetting issues involving the use of open fi...

Re: She still won't idle?

Be sure to source the correct ohm resistance factor for your replacement caps. You need caps for CDI which use 0.5ohm resistance, not the far more common inductive ignition types with 2.2 to 3ohm resistance levels. Partzilla lists the replacement RZ350 cap here http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/...

Re: cranks and crank parts

Perhaps heads with replaceable domes? That would be a boon for these motors. The stroke change should benefit from an optimized pipe design. Tough to get it right within the stock bodywork. Good luck, Gus!
