std or hi clip ons???

#1 Post by Coop » Tue Jun 14, 2005 12:37 am

Hey guys, just asking for some opinions. Just finishing up swapping the front end (ZXR 400 SP) and about to order the clip ons. What experience have you guys had with the different height clip ons. The stock ZXR clip ons are under the triple clamp. Harris and other companies have a hi mount set that set it about an inch higher so its about level with the top of the triple. Thanks for the advice. Coop
Also what gel cell battery are you guys running?
Coop
'85 RD500LC
'04 R1

My experience is not exactly the same since I have a different set of forks. However, I ran low clipons for a while. They worked, but lever (finger) clearance to the fairing was limited when turning. I moved to higher units that are as you describe, which fit the fairing cutout better. Hand pressure reduced a bit too, which was an improvement.
Specifically, I have R1 forks and had R1 clips. Moved to GSXR offset clips.
