F4 replacement shock

I wish to replace my shock with one from a F4 Honda. Does it matter the orientation of the shock - it appears that the reservoir could be located next to the battery, but this appears to be backwards relative to operational direction of the shock.<p>Thanks in advance

All I can tell you is not to do it - it will cost as much or more as doing it right and buying an Penske or Ohlins or something!

The spring rates are all different. You can do it, but why would you? Someone did it with an R1 shock I believe... check archives..<p>D<br>

I briefly considered it and was glad someone talked me out of it - the F3 shock is the best fit I think - I have the one that was closest here if you really want to try, you can have it. You will need to revalve, put a new spring on it and you have to drill your front mounts to match which will forever modify an irreplacable part - in the end you will spend as much as the aftermarket costs.<p>Rob
