Igntion System improvements

#1 Post by Tim » Sun Oct 02, 2005 7:19 pm

i am looking at improving the ignition system on LC. This will include having the stator checked and probably re wound, carry out the TSI mod on the Flywheel back plate, fit new Dyna coils and leads.
I currently have a 47X CDI unit. The bike appears to be a 1GE model though. Will there also be an improvement fitting a 1 GE CDi unit. Does anyone have any feedback on the above or experience on what to look for or what not to do.
Thanks

Have a look at the TSI ignition advance on the Tech reference page on Bills pages (http://userweb.suscom.net/~rzbill/Bill/Billindex.htm) and it shows the difference in the curves between 47X and 1GE. Have not heard anything good about aftermarket coils on an RZ. Most say stock is better. I still have stock. Anthony Dodd

Anthony,
Thanks for info the site was good. Will complete the TSI mod. Will still have the stator looked at to ensure it will generate a good power for the ignition system. Thanks for saving me money.
