Dry clutch kit and first gear set

#1 Post by geosot » Fri Aug 20, 2010 5:31 am

I can offer a dry clutch modification for the RD500 on an part exchange base for a clutch cover.

Also I offer a first gear set with this modification.

OEM first gear ratio is 2.4 and OEM second gear is 1.68. With this kit first gear is 2.18 closing the gap between the 1st and 2nd gear.

Kit consist of

1. clutch cover
2. billet hub
3. first gear set (input shaft and output 1st gear)
4. primary gear with the small kickstarter gear pressed in.
5. Seals, o-rings, nut, additional external oil feed.
6. short pushrod for the Ducati pressure plate

Kit uses Ducati basket, pressure plate and disks/springs. I can supply these parts or you can get them from another source.

Note that the kit requires the modification of an existing clutch cover, that you have to supply me.

Fitting of the kit requires the removal of the quasi cassette gearbox and access to a hydraulic press to disassembly & reassembly the input shaft.

Optionally

1. I offer a 1st - 2nd gear set with the kit with longer 1st & 2nd for race circuit use (at additional cost)

2. offer replacement for the NLA gearbox bearings (at additional cost)

3. offer a kit that uses Ducati hub and utilizes OEM first gear (that drastically reduce cost)

cost???????????? I know there are variables from your post but a baseline cost would be nice.

The modification is quite modular and a price tag at this point could be misleading.

I have send you a PM with a detailed price analysis.

Here is a test fit before a kit goes to the owner. This is a dry clutch kit with billet hub plus a first gear set.

Also the kit based on TZ350/TZ250 parts is again for sale.

This kit is superior to the Ducati based kit, but it costs.

TZ parts are really pricey and even the maintenance (disks, springs) cost.

On the other hand life expectancy of this kit with moderate (ab)use is way to long.

Many thanks to the member here that let me publish pics of his parts, while they are waiting the clutch cover to be shipped to their owner all together.

just wondering, why would you need a slipper clutch on a 2 stroke?
Use "no way" as way
Have "no limitation" as limitaion
