So, I've had my low kilometre RZ on display at the National Motorcycle Museum in Nabiac. I go there every few years to check out the bikes and say hello.

But the time has come to get the seals done and put her back on the road under historic rego, and so I'm here to pick her up. Here's the kicker - sometime in the last couple of years some scumbag/s have stolen ;

Both lower cans,
Both seat bobbins,
The coolant overflow tank cap,
The oil tank cap cover bracket,
The kick-starter,
The plastic screen screws.

What really makes me cranky is that the filth who took these parts are fellow RZ owners.

I suppose arseholes come in all sizes.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Over the past couple of years no one at the museum has noticed the missing parts? You would think a motorcycle museum would take note of something obvious like the lower cans missing and let you know. It is their business. I'd be looking for answers at the museum first. You need to remove the seat to steal the bobbins if they've been attached properly. For that you need the key.

Then tell them to go check their Vincents.

The museum is packed with bikes, cheek by jowl. There's no barriers to stop people from getting right in there to check out any details they want. The only security is a couple of cameras and a sign that politely asks visitors to not touch the bikes. They pretty much work on the trust system and it's worked fine for years but now there are dickheads who treat it as a fifteen buck all you can carry wreckers. Most of the bikes are owned by the one family and they are ready to close down due to the thefts. He lost twelve Velocette points covers a little while ago at an open day for kids with cancer. How low can you get?

On the plus side, he has stripped his own low kilometre RZ for all my missing parts bar the screen screws and the coolant overflow tank cap as they have been pinched from his too. He's also going to source the cap from the USA and post it to me. He's a good guy and doesn't need these scum stealing stuff from people who just want to share their love of bikes.

Thats a very sorry tale, id be fuming , ive had bits pinched off my bikes at meets in the past, does make you question leaving your bike unattended for any length of time, however you'd think it would be safe in a museum.
