Steve Murphree's resurected RZ

#1 Post by smurph » Mon Dec 31, 2007 6:26 pm

This is my ride. It was about a year and a half long restoration project. This bike used to sit in various places/pieces in RZTom's garage and attic. Now it sits in one piece in my garage. :)

The bike is pretty much a stock example with the exception of a complete R1 front brake system.

I only wish I had a pic of what that bike looked liked before Steve bought it - it was hideous... :-x I bought it back in '91 as part of a 2-bike purchase from Canada. The previous owner said he had to dig it out of a snow bank to deliver to me... it sat in my garage in pieces for years...

Kudos to Steve for bringing another RZ500 basket-case to life once again...

And for those that like the wicked 350 little brother... A snarling infected twin that's more fun than should be allowed.

Uh, this is not even close to a stock example. The frame, tank, rear sets, and pivot bolt are about the only things that haven't been touched. Maybe I didn't mess with the rear brake return spring, but I'm not sure.

The 500 got new shoes and socks!!!

Dunlop GT501s with black wheels. A big improvement in looks and handling.

Check out the radial like tread pattern. I thing it's the best looking bias ply tire that you can get for these things.
