ive used allsorts of styff over the years but now ive got it down to using m e k & fileing down abs plastic or you could buy plastex its a clear liquid & poweder .the poweders made of plastic & carbon fiberdust it to us realy stron but verry pricy.there are other products around. it melts plastic basicly & rejoins like one pieace. you can use fibe glass sheets to make up large areas .ive done this on the lower fairing on to edge where there is no bolt hole yet . hope this gets you started peet. http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii23 ... 0_1665.jpg
methyl ethyl ketone is whot you need. if you have a crack to repair .on the back side dremil out a groove i put a couple of drill holes in on ether side. like stichig.dont drill all way through . thay act as a a holding plug . mix up some mek & old plastic that you have filed down in a steel bowl or some thing like that as mek will melt most plastic. my take a hour depend on plastic sizing .now place that brown packing tap over the painted side .this will stop mek comming onto the paint. i use a paint brush to put mek over the grove area to losen up the part in repar .dont wont to much leaking over the paint & through the crack..lay slurry into the groves . i use a eyedroper to put a little more mek over the repair every hour or so 3-4 times .not to much mek. this will take a few day to dry out.. you could buy the plastex to start out .but the way thay say to do it i cant get it to work .thay say to use a eyedropper with the liquid in it & pick up a dap of powde on the end & place it on the plastic. i lay the poweder in the grove & drop the liquid over it .you will go through the liqud lot more this way .thats why i use mek $1.80 aliter over & $30 per 50 mils. powder is a little quicker . dont know if it stronger.. you can repair or all sort of things with little bondo and parts can be repaird & painted to orignal . pm if theres more you need to know i could do some repair pic ive got some to do . cheers beer peet. ps how do get this keyboard into pargaph & wheres the spell check
Cheers for all the great info Peter. I have one last question about MEK is that something you can buy at the hardware store in Australia or is it something you buy from a specialty shop. I found Plastex on the web http://www.plastex.ca/ but it sounds like MEK would be a more cost effective way to go. Now to find somebody that sells it. If I get back to Australia I will buy you a XXXX or a VB.
