here is my bike, just had my 1st ride on it since buying it,and fitting the keyster kit ,in fact its my 1st ride on a 500lc ever.its not as revy or smooth as my 350N1 ,and its got nothing below 5000 rpm ( even less than 350)and it doesnt brake as good either.and my right leg got hot !I suppose i have a bit of setting up to do..but i enjoyed it and its a good starting point to start improving it and making it suite me.

Nice 500 Steve, most people upgrade to more modern parts on 'em , throw a set of chambers on it and some good reeds, different needles and the fun should start to pick up.... looks like you have a good one to improve on !! A fried rump is the nature of the beast, the only time mine see's 5K rpm's is when I take off, it hates to be lugged around like a 4stroke and really enjoys getting it's neck wrung and it always begs for more Great looking riding you have there in Littleborough .....Have fun
Yeah, the brakes are so... 80s! 98-03 R1 rotors bolt right up to the wheels and you can then make an adapter to bolt the 98-03 calipers on. Much improved stopping power.
For more revs, you can ditch the air box and replace it with pod filters on the elephant ears. ~220 mains and #25 pilots for this combo. It seemed to help the bottom end on my bike too. It will lug away from a stop if you desire. With the stock setup, takeoffs were always quite dramatic with the revs. Not now, even with stock gearing. There are many more mods out there for the carbs/intake. I like this one because it's not so "invasive" and it's easy to tune/jet.
Oh, better check your YPVS to make sure it is adjusted/working properly.
