Ok, its a nissin, if its got 14 on the back of the cylinder its a yamaha, if its got 5/8 ita a honda or suzuki.agian the difference is the piston size. hope that helps.

Yahama it is

#17 Post by Geovmax » Mon Dec 22, 2008 10:02 pm

Thanks Simon. Yes it has a 14 so Yahama it must be. At least it hasn't been tainted with Honda or Suzuki parts. Cheers George

very nice bikes looks like a nissin front master cylinder i like the paint detail on your 500 looks individual but still a very period piece
i am in the process of a 500 and have a 350 roberts replica red white blue which was featured in a magazine in australia
i went for a ride today on the 350 and it is amazing how many people comment on the 2 strokes and recall a favourite moment of there past motorcycle experiences with a rz, i too grew up with 2 strokes and so did my older nieghbours which is why i think i am hooked

makes me want to sit and stare at things in the garage  :smt119 :smt103

More Power!!

#25 Post by Geovmax » Wed Apr 15, 2009 10:59 pm

Yes a major improvement, I have to watch the revs now as it keeps pulling right past 10,500 RPM nice and smooth (I don't want to run a big end). It has also gained more power in the lower range as well. A lot of money but well worth the effort. The sound up in the revs is cool as well, sounds a bit like an 80s GP bike.

very nice pipes are they full stainless, what jetting did you use, i have a set of lomas on my 350 stainless and they sound awsome, and i also have a mild steel set on my 500, i had them ceramic coated, i am still waiting on 1 part to finish build of gearbox and then fresh decals and paint for fairings

great bike, cant wait to get mine on the road again

Cheers

They are Stainless. I have a set of DG Pipes painted mild steel on my wife's 350 but they are a bugger to keep clean.
I ended up with 175 jets in the carbs for the front cylinders and 180 jets in the rear cylinders.
A standard air box set up.
The carbs are stock RZV500R (I think) with no needle changes only the jetting and the bike seems to run OK.
