Exhaust Cans any difference?

#1 Post by hail seizure » Thu Sep 25, 2014 2:34 pm

I have 4 of the lower exhaust 'bean can' silencers.
3 are marked 1GE-14753 and 1 47X-14753
Questions is, what is the difference, if any between them?
Are the left and right cans the same? The part number is the same on the fiche.

Cheers Mike.

Hi Mike

Left and right are the same.

I would think that the baffles are different,i have a nos 47X baffle if anyone has a photo of a 1GE baffle so we can compare?

Hi Steve, there is a photo of the 2 baffle types in the 'what is different' thread. 47X are perforated and 1GE slotted.
The reason I ask about the cans is that I was trying to get the left and right cans mounted with the part number
showing, like on the 350. Can't do this on the 500 as one can will always be reversed!

Hi Mike

These are the upper exhaust baffles, there are baffles in the lower end cans.

You are right about the part number position on the can,i had some one check a new bike to see how they left the factory

Yes sorry, the pics are of the upper baffles.
I have examined all 4 of my cans baffles and they all
look the same.
Would be interesting to see how the cans were mounted from the Factory.

I found my notes about the end can position checked on a new bike,i don`t think there is a specific position. This bike had the part number visible on the side on the right hand and at the top on the left hand.
