VIVA ITALIA!

#1 Post by jackson.40 » Fri Dec 23, 2011 4:08 pm

Yamaha promotional video shown in Japan only.
Filmed in early 1984.
Pre-production bike filmed in Italy on a ride from Roma to Taranto which is a distance of 950KM.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8iOsbP4OaA&lr=1

The Japanese writing at 0.40secs says "Exported bike model RD500LC"
The Japanese writing at 1m.45secs says "Wear helmet correctly"
The Japanese writing at 9m.15secs says "This vehicle is closest to humans"

WOW! That's so cool. Were all the pre-production bikes RD's? Were there any RZ's or RZV's?

There were some RZ`s but i have not seen any RZV`s.I think because the RZV was a Japan only model the pre-production bikes stayed at the factory and were crushed when finished with. All the pre-production bikes should have been crushed but a only a few survive.

Did they actually get "crushed", as in the whole bike squashed? Or just broken up?

Hi Ronnie,

Not sure what they did to destroy them, but back then Yamaha kept very little.Even the RZV they have is restored. There are a lot of different things on the pre-production bikes but they could have used the bodywork and a few other parts.
