on my crank cases top and bottom there is an engraved initial or code it appears to be an x a 61, although it could be japanese writing as the letters are odd shaped

could this be a factory assembly marking for matched cases

you can see markings between barrels and just below oil pump lines

Are you sure?,in the last four years i have never seen a 53g above 53g000600.Is it stamped 53x?
My mistake. I had to go double check. It turns out its 53G0003xx. The 3 is stamped so heavily it looks like an 8 but the frame plate says 3xx.

Here is another mystery, what do those hand scribed marks mean? It seems that every bike has them.

The bike I bought a few weeks ago is a red/black one, with chassis number 1GE001084.
I think it's the original bodywork for the chassis, but it's had 12 prior owners or something so I can't guarantee it. It says black in the registration papers, which makes me think it left the factory this way.
My first 500 is a red/white with chassis number 1GE003465.

I got intrigued again about the qty of red and black bikes made.

I checked my chassis / engine details and it falls in the 1ge 0028** numbers.

Making some assumptions ref the numbers quoted in this post previously.

10,000 units ever made (47x and 1ge)

Split Red and white = 90% (9000 units) and Red and black = 10% (1000units)

10% of all bikes made imported into the UK = 1000 units.

Assuming as above 10% of that 1000 units were Red and Black. That means only 100 red and black bikes made it to the UK.

The new sections will go live once Steve is ready. He is still working on getting it all together. There are literally hours and hours of work needed to get this stuff complied, and Steve is a busy guy, so we must be patient...

Just to add al little extra confusion. I own a 47x with a very low number, its less than 47x000101. In the engine and frame however. Any thoughts on that?
