When I bought this bike, it was less than 25 years old. Couldn't get it registered.

Just been sitting in the corner of the garage collecting dust. Been busy with other bikes.

Just struck me, because of it's age, I could now register it in Cali.

Hope I live long enough to get into this bike!!

It's a great looking bike. The mods work very well. Get it registered and go ride it. Have some fun and send us the video link.

When I first got the bike, the DMV gave me a temporary (1 month) permit. Then, I could legally ride it to the DMV for inspection.

If I would have realized it couldn't be registered, I would have rode it a lot more in that month. :smt003

The engine's been flawless, always started on the first kick. The thing that really struck me was how high the gearing is. I definitely want a larger sprocket on the back. Must come close to 150mph with this gearing. Real nice for highway riding, but I prefer a crotch rocket.

Somewhere, I have video of riding this bike. This was the bike the camera fell off. $1,300 Sony Mini-cam. Still shaking my head over that one.

You're right, John. Would lift my spirits to legally whip on this bike.

Can you get another temporary permit Pete?

I love that bike, I'd forgot you had it. Get plates on it and give it hell.

Pretty sure the DMV put a Red Flag on the computer for this bike. Some mention of that last time I was at the DMV.

I'll give it a try and see what happens. :smt023

Got a few other things to do, first.

I know some of the history of your NS.
A guy named Pat was deep into these and had a website NS400.ca
Lived in Burlington Ontario just a short ride from me. He got divorced and sold all his bikes. Yours was one of them.
It was all stock with a ugly paint job. I forget the color.
Guy from Chicago I believe bought the bike and drove all the way to pick it up. They met on the UK ns400 forum.
It was the guy in Chicago that did all the current mods and eventually sold the bike to you.
There used to be a mod thread on there, not sure if it still exists, I haven't been on there in years.

Dude! Thanks for the info.

Definitely interesting to learn some history of the bike.

The guy I bought it from is Nino. Don't know his screen name. I think he said he did the mods. The mods are not well done. Nothing I can't fix, but a good amount of work. Mostly body work. Best thing about the bike is it's been a strong runner. No mechanical problems. That's gold with these bikes.

Haven't ridden this bike much at all. So glad I didn't sell it.

Nice!! Thanks, again.

Excited to read, will probably learn more about the bike than from just looking at it.

Didn't even start reading. Waiting 'till I can sit for a bit and relax.

I think this bike would make a super great custom, and a fun build. It's already got so many mods, I doubt anyone would ever attempt to make it close to original. Time will tell.

Amazing memory! And, thanks.

So, I looked him up. He visited the 350 side 3 days ago. Guessing he probably figured out or read that I'm the same person he sold the bike to. Not sure if he reads this (500) side.

Nino, if you read this, I do have to say that your work on this NS400R is absolute dog shit.
