Downtime

#1 Post by hybrid » Mon Nov 21, 2011 6:59 pm

Sorry about the down time yesterday fellas.

Our data centre did one of their bi-yearly power tests where they cut the mains power to test UPS and generator backup. Clearly it failed.

We were left with database corruption on both servers.
I was not aware that this website was affected until Tom emailed me.

By the looks of things the data center is in Canada(at least the hosting entity), the support folks are in Australia and the Admin is in California - a truely distributed computing model.

:)

Glad it is all backup now.

Sorry guys... the forum server failed a "test of the backup power service" Sunday afternoon, resulting in the downtime.

Hope they get that dialed-in before the catastrophic snow-storm of 20..?

(Server is indeed located in Canada... :smt119)

Tip of the helmet to Jeff Mills (hybrid) for keeping us happy....
