Aprilia RSW 500 replica
Started a new project helping a friend to build a new kind of replica GP bike
engine........
first mockup to have an idea of mounting brackets
Laser cut provvisory hardware to verify in detail how to do
and first mounting of engine in aprilia RS frame
and first real mockup with engine self supporting into frame
lot of work still to do, but seems to be interesting

Should be a great project. So envious of the creativity you builders have and the tools to follow through. Keep us updated.

Re: Aprilia RSW 500 replica
Great build alex ive join'd the forum as i have plans to do the same build as you !
i started a thread on the tzr forum saying what i was going to do and some one put up a link to here
ive got the frame and swingarm rs250 aprilia ive got a mk1 rs250 front end or a complete zxr400 front end ,i think im going with that for now got most of the engine a good few parts missing ,most of the engine covers ,clutch pressure plate ,clutch plates, hydraulic clutch mech ,starter motor ,barrels and heads but i think ive sorted those ! my engine is a carb motor from a trofero model 1 of 26 made to race in a series they did .
have you stripped a full bike ? as the ecu is in the clocks and that means you would need to use there clocks and loom ?
ive got an ignitech box for a v-twin and was thinking if i can put a different flywheel or mod the one thats on and get 2 pickups in there i should be able to use the ignitech box !
has your mate got any engine parts he could sell ?
im in contact with Piero and he is seeing what he has got i can use .
also the main reason why i joined was that i like the engine mounting brackets you've made . is there any chance you have the measurements so i can get some made ? i even need an inlet set up making like you have done , ive got a pair of pwk 39mm carbs is that what you've gone with as well ?
there is a complete bike allready done and i fell in love with it, as i think the rs250 mk1 is one of the nicest looking bikes ever made
ive got one in my 250's ive got 4 so time for a 500
i wont start posting pics as its your thread and im watching with interest , good luck with yours !

Re: Aprilia RSW 500 replica
dear EYREY1
Thank you for your appreciation on my project.
I have read several articles on the same previous project done by another Italian guy
and I think it was well done ,
I keep some inspiration from him, but I prefer to make my own choices and , although I am still at beginning,
there are already obvious differences between the two projects .
I did not start taking apart a whole bike , so I will have to rebuild the electrical and electronic system
regarding drawings of engine mounts , I will be more than happy to share information and data,
but I'd rather do it only after be sure that the bike can be ridden well and have'nt any particular issues .
therefore kindly ask you to be patient for a while .
Do you have any information or technical data about exhaust chambers ?

Re: Aprilia RSW 500 replica
i dont have any measurements for pipes but my close friend has 2 v-dues and one has factory pipes on it
as it was a tofiero trophy race bike
i can probably get the measurements off those and share with you info
some of the free exhaust programs you can download on the internet are quite good
but they just give you a straight pipe design and you have to work the bends yourself !
please save the info on the mounting brackets please
or send me them so i know i have them ?
what are you doing for the timing and electrics Alex ?
timing on these looks tricky i wanted to use a zeeltronic or ignitech boxes as the ecu is built into the clocks on a v-due and they are 1500 euros i was told ?
and ive got no stator plate yet but know it has no pickups and i think the pulse comes from that other crank with all the teeth on that black wheel , ive got an ignitech box for a v twin its a cdidp2 race they are a great unit and do everything
the standard one seems to get power from the coil and pickup pulses from the black wheel shown here note the missing teeth
note this picture 1 pickup and 3 teeth missing on the toothed cog ?
the 2 holes in it might be the clue as the single pickup looks set back behind the wheel i will have to take it off and see whats on the back of it , does it fire both plugs each time the single pickup sences it ? i will wait for your reply the more i think about it the more confused i am
do you have an idea and will you share please ?
thanks Gary

Re: Aprilia RSW 500 replica
Thonk to run with zeeltronic hardware
and rebuild sprocket with a single teeth fot timing
but at the moment i want to concentrate on rolling chassis only
