John... ditch the idea of a set of 32s. On a stock motor they will be overkill and will be a nightmare to get jetted. Not to mention the fitment problems and the cabling issues that Atch mentioned, along with the inability to mount the stock airbox elephant ears.

Stay with stock carbs, massaged as mentioned with a 27mm bore and Atch's needles. Use the elephant ears with pod filters on the ends under the tank, and with our jetting suggestions and a set of pipes that Brian will hopefully make for you, you'll have a screamer

Great question! Mind you, I have not done this mod my self yet, but I am assuming that 27.5mm is the bore limit, because of the diameter of the slide.

I agree with Tom, 28mm - 30mm carbs will give the best results for a rideable, fast street-bike. Anything bigger will only give an advantage on a heavily modified track bike.
After all, YZR500s only ran 34mm.

No & Yes  No you don't have to alter the bottom of the slide b/c when you sync your carbs you sync them with all the slides being flush with the top of the bore. Yes any larger and the slides will not seal on the side and you will have an air leak and the bike won't want to idle properly. There you go, bore away

Update:

Well I have the stock RZ500 carbs cleaned and reassemebled with keyster rebuild kits. Waiting on getting 5L1 needles to allow us to do the needle mod. I will be sending completed carbs and airboxes (with k&n filters) to Brian once I receive needles. We are ready whether we will use stock carbs or aftermarket ones.

Unfortunately, I found something else missing. The stock reed blocks and reeds. I know I have everything Mickey had bc he helped me pack everything up in Aug when we cleaned his garage. My guess is that they disappeared when Gus removed and lost Mickey's cylinders. So, we are going to need to add the stock reed blocks to the parts list. I have emails out for aftermarket reeds and aftermarket v-force reed blocks and I am waiting for responses. I think the v-force reed blocks may be out of our price range (retail $169 ea) but waiting to get a quote.

To All:

Sorry we haven't been able to post a full update recently. Brian had some storm damage, with power being out, food going bad, etc. He's only just getting going again this week. I have sent him a full update (as I know things) and I am waiting on him to respond. Hopefully I will be able to get something posted shortly.

BTW, please provide your input on "Forum Party! Mickey's Tribute Bike Reveal" thread. I would like to get everyone's input.

John
