in search of Calif RZ Mechanic & fabricator

#1 Post by Questo vecchio rz » Sun May 15, 2016 12:34 am

Looking for a ( reliable & honest NO BS guy" only! Rz 500 with a freshly ATR rebuilt race engine" never started" bike has been sitting for 10 years an aircraft Hangar I am in need of a California-based mechanic and fabricator who can do a motor /inspection/ diagnosis can fabricate fairing mounts, basic bike prep Etc. Basiclly this is a 90% complete project street/track bike that needs to be taken to the final stage, it is for my friend. Looking for contact info etc..No DIY encouragement , owner is far to busy nor intrested outside of tuning. I can provide a complete build sheet and list of what has been done. I will be at the two stroke Extravaganza tomorrow and we'll be seeking refferals of anybody that is capable. No BS from our end, money provided for quality services no problem. Bike is in So Cal but anywhere between S.F & San Diego is fine. Ive supplied names of two well known RZ tuners here to my friend, but apparently they have no intrest ?. Its a fairly straight foreward " pretty standard" affair. No un-realistic time frames needed, just dont keep the machine un touched for 12 months. He just needs reliable quality straight up service.

Thanks for any replies.

For any intrested indaviduals here are the basics.
ATR/Alien racing rebuild.

Stage 2 porting
Reshaped power valves
Cut & reshaped cylinder heads for 94 octane
New and trued cranks
Weisco pistons
28mm flatslides
Modified reed cages w carbon reeds
Honed intake runners
1-5 cable splitter. relocated
All new seals" bikes been stored in AZ " unused.
Modified barrnet clutch assembly.
All new cables & hoses.
GSXR USD front conversion revalved 120 x17.
NSR 250 bannana swingarm w OHLINS shock 170x17.
CBR wheels
All prolight rotors
Mini rear disc assembly
Airtech bodywork
All other usual stuff m. cylinders , 1/4 throttle controls etc..
Possibly bought as a unused unfinished project from a unkown former member here, boxes of files and reciets and old RZ500 forum newsletters, also parts & fab work from alot of folks here. Owner/friend paid about 4k for this complete 90% assembled machine ready to start.
Again he just needs a RZ 500 familiar enthusiast/mechanic/ fabricator to get him on his way. He wants this as a limited use street bike, all electrics are intact as well.
Thanks again.

Hello Giron, the owner lives in Ventura county. And is open to anyone to about the S.F. region. Obviouslly So Cal would be great. Hes new to the "2 stroke world", but now has a Gamma 500, The RZ500 mentioned & I sold him my Daytona Special. The main problem for him (if you can call it that) is that h, like many of us like things modified AKA (race inspired). Which leads to the inevitable fabrication. His two 500s have a alot of potential.
I did supply him w Brians E-mail, Just not sure if it was the correct one. I supplied the build spec so that someone could understand its not a cobbeled together project, someone has already spent a easy $10k on this project bike already. He needs someone to " go over, mechanically the entire bike mecaniclly & electriclly so that its a rolling functioning machine. Cosmetics (paint) suspension sorting can come at a later time from others if required.
He really needs a straight up No BS builder who knows RZ500s w no attitude /excuses who simply will do the work required in a "reasonable" time at whatever honest rate the builder feels he needs.
Again , If you or anyone can recommend someone yoy can post here or PM me and I'll foreward all the info.
Hes having Cary@ RGV.com looking at his Gamma along w some parts and recommendations from Rick Lance.
Someone provided him Steve Biganski name, but there seems to be ALOT of bad blood and words regarding his actions/reputation on the internet. I dont know if it accurate or not? So hes a little worried about pursuing that route as hes already been hijacked by two other guys on other projects who claimed they could do work but took $ and never delivered.
Just need " old scool" good working relationships w other enthusiasts.
Thanks again

Thanks for the PMs and the offering of help, Ive let him know about you guys.
Giron, Thanks for providing the misc info. Im told the RZ500 and my old Daytona "cafe" are taking a trip up to Mr. Turfreys shop next week for a extended stipdown/inspection & mechanical refurbish. The bikes are certainlly "not" pretty but hopefully my friend will reconsider cosmetics as well as the mechanicals..sounds like he's in good hands. He's had some awful experiences with his 2 strokes languishing in guys shops for almost 2 years with nothing but false promises and wasted $. Now that hes decided to take my advice and utilize indaviduals whom know these machines, I'm hoping he will finally have a smile on his face when they are up and running. One problem has been the the minor fabrication required, rearset mounts, brake spacers, pipe hangers etc..that always adds to the issues and slows things down.

Thanks again to all.
