silverstrom- thanks much for posting this and so much other helpful info.
I still don't know much about these bikes, but I'm learning bit by bit.

My pleasure.
This mod is very easy to do. The worst part is removing the bodywork, fuel tank, and pipes. That takes longer than installing the check valves. I used stock oil line clamps and they worked perfectly. Didn't realize they had corrosion on them until I saw the pics. Old eyes.
Here is better photo. Note the arrow on the valve indicating direction of flow.

Re: Check Valves
I took my broken Yamaha check valve apart to show you what is inside. It is the same as the RZ350 and TZR250 check valves, although those valves you can disassemble and clean.
This is what is inside the RZ500 check valve. You can see that one end is wound tight, almost closed. The ball sits at that end. Over time (30 years) the spring compresses and loses the force required to properly seat the ball and that causes the 2T oil to bypass the check valve and enter the engine.
The RG500 check valve innards are the same. You can remove them and stretch the spring a bit to increase tension and stop oil leaking from the carbs. Often the ball will push inside the spring and you can easily fix that by closing the end again.

Re: Check Valves
I am also looking for those valves, just talked to my local shop in Sweden and those are 50$ each!
I found a litle cheaper solution at boats.net total for 4 valves 64$ shipped to Sweden, i can live with that.
If some one have a better price let me know.

Re: Check Valves
I've had no oil leakage into the engine since installing the new check valves. No issues with oil flow either. I just rode the bike very hard for 400 km and the oil supply was fine.

Re: Check Valves
Hi
I have also now fitted inline check valves and can confirm they work perfectly. I was getting a lot of oil in the exhaust pipe if left standing as it would slowly leak via gravity. Since I have the new in line valves no more leaking
