Clutch advice

#1 Post by steveho » Mon Jul 18, 2016 3:56 pm

Hi Guys, some advice please....
I am in the process of modifying a Ducati dry clutch on my YZR replica. I am keen to make the clutch assembly as narrow or slim as possible. I am contemplating removing some of the friction and steel plates. My thinking is that some of the bigger Dukes make 100 lb.ft of torque, whereas I will be lucky to have 50% of that. As stock, the Ducati clutch has 7 friction plates, and I'm thinking of losing 2 of these.....
What do you guys reckon, worth a try or just plain crazy? :???:

In the end, decided to lose just one pair of friction/steel plates as machining the hub to lose more would be difficult. Still managed to make the clutch assembly as slim as possible. Am happy with the result, just need to make sure it actually works, and doesn't leak.......
