Stock power valves ( reproductions).

#1 Post by Questo vecchio rz » Sun Sep 24, 2017 3:21 am

We're can we locate stock power valves, either OEM or reproductions?

This is for friends RZ500. The motor was built previously, and extensively ported and the existing power valves, were apparently cut to much, thus they don't close enough to provide adequate low speed & midrange.

They will work, but present motor builder suggested, starting with a fresh set of P.Valves for a road bike and take it from there.

And help or leads is appreciated, Thanks.

Hi, as far as I know there is no aftermarket replacement option for the power valves, I could be wrong on that? I know they can be welded and re worked back into spec. Obviously this would require a reasonably skilled welder so as not to turn them into a pile of mush.

Hi,
I bought a set of billet PV’s off UK Ebay from the guy below. None listed at the moment, but maybe worth getting in contact. Price around 270 GBP so approx. $360.
Quality very good, however, the timing angle flats were slightly off, which meant they didn’t perfectly align with the ports in the open position (close though). I am being fussy, as maybe not any worse than stock. However, I am running Zeeltronic, so easy adjustment to the open/closed positions.

By chance...does anyone know if the 500 P. Valves are interchangeable with RZ350 power valves?, as billet power valves are avsil easily for that motor.
I'm sure it's not that easy...but no harm in asking

No, they won't work. 350 valves are different. TZR valves won't work either. If you need RZ500 valves, only RZ500 valves will work.

The RZ250 power valves look the same at a glance... Would need to fit some to be sure
To be honest I am not a big fan of the YPVS system anyway. Open the valve...leave it open & tell me what you think :-)
