#1 Post by joshmervis » Fri Jan 31, 2020 2:03 am

Does anyone on the board know of someone in the Indianapolis region who has experience working on/tuning these engines?

Thanks!

You have Wilson in Missouri or Ed Toomey possibly on east coast. What ever you do figure not seeing it for a long time.

Years ago someone here was dealing with Madman Engineering. I think he's in Illinois.

The name Tony Baker comes to mind. He raced it for a year. I’m pretty sure he sold it. RC45 may be the current owner.

I'm about 30 miles from Indy. Depending on what you need, I might be able to help. Ex Honda dealer wrench and service manager and I'm just about done with a ground up rebuild on mine.

So you have all the parts needed before deciding on who to use? You are a little vague on what you want done. Might get more interest if you have defined path.

So there is another RD500 owner who is not satisfied with the performance of his RD, and I can understand that very well, because the RD500 is a very rotten egg.
They should, as already mentioned, know what they want. The two different 250 engines that are clamped together are different in their characteristics and therefore not so easy to tune.
In any case you should look for a tuner who has been working with the -Bastard RD 500 engine- for a long time.
For tuning these 2x 250ccm engine there are many possibilities, because the engine is totally messed up.

How out of touch I am. This guy is practically around the corner from me.

I see he does a crapload of stuff.
Nice guy or typical cranky 2 stroke wizard?
