few static timing qeustions !

#1 Post by nzminis » Tue Apr 03, 2018 3:08 am

hey guys

few questions on checking static timing for my zeel unit
current it set at 34

i have read some older posts and im still not understanding how to check it , one said degree wheel and dial indicator , just finding it a bit hard as only way to check with timing light is through the hole when running

i have taken the timing bung out , and with a basic timing light at 1200 rpm static 34 . 2000rpm on zeel set to 19

the mark on the case lines up with the bottom mark on flywheel , but if i change the static in zeel to 37 i can get the mark on the case to fall between the 2 marks on the flywheel as per the manuals test
is this a correct test ?

if not layman's terms for a correct explanation , whole timing thing is over the top of my head at the moment

thanks

Just follow Martins approach, this will work !
Search for “ Zeeltronics and Static Angle “

that approach seems to explain it very well !
i did not see that post in my search

Thanks

one float started leaking all over the floor last night when i was have a play, no amount of soft hitting got it to stop , so ive ordered more floats and ill try the timing again when they turn up
