Re: Crankshaft assemblies arrived
Hi Gus
I had been trying to contact you by pm etc with no success. I was trying to find out if you're going to get any NS400 cranks made??
thanks

Re: Crankshaft assemblies arrived
I have tried many peeps to get one and that was a no go, I am interested in that! I'll have piston kits soon and an RD 400 crank. I have to have a good sample to start with.

Re: Crankshaft assemblies arrived
I have a damaged disassembled NS400R crankshaft at home.
Center conrod big end bearing failed, other parts are OK.
=> Center crank pin is pressed in on both sides, a very simple part.
Should be fine to get measurements to reproduce it.
PM if you are interested.

Re: Crankshaft assemblies arrived
Is it the rods that are nla?
Re: Crankshaft assemblies arrived
If all the pins are removable unlike the rz/Rd it would be a simple rebuild kit, I'm gonna try and do all nla main parts for the cool 2-strokers

Re: Crankshaft assemblies arrived
Most of the NS400R engine parts are NLA including pistons, conrods and crankshaft + crankshaft bearings + seals.
Not all pins are removable, only the center pin
The outer crank pin`s are integrated into the inner webs.
All in all you need 4 different tools for webs (maybe 3 as you can use the same raw part for the 2 outer webs, just different machining)
You can`t do a simle repair kit as the parts are also worn out where the main bearings are sitting.
Don`t know what happens there, I think they are simply too soft.
60000km and they are dead.

Re: Crankshaft assemblies arrived
I'll check with a buddy to see what he has for parts, Au to USA is expensive shipping
So no one makes a rod kit or sells main bearings

Main bearings are Koyo, I can check if I can get them.
No aftermarket conrods available as far as I know.
I also did not find standard spec pistons.
Bike has coated cylinders instead of steel sleeves.
Would be nice to have aftermarket crankshafts with new rods and a piston kit.
Then you can coat your cylinders if they are out of spec and run it again with standard bore.
This is exactly what I would need to rebuild the original engine of my 400.
