Removing the snorkels from carb to airbox ‘elephant ears’

#1 Post by Richie rich » Mon Apr 30, 2018 12:46 am

Hoping someone might be able to advise what the likely effect or impact is from having the snorkels removed from the std carb to airbox elephant ears? This was done by a previous owner - presumably under the assumption that they were restricted in some way. Keen to know if I should be looking to buy another set....

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks, Richard

The bike will be louder.
2-stroke engines are very loud without any intake silencers.
Most airboxes have some funnels or bent rubber parts to restrict the cross section or guide the intake noise around some corners.

I expect no other effects of this snorkles as there is a lot of volume in front of the carbs which makes air guiding measures useless.
