On Sept. 27th the RZV500R Owners Club in Japan held a 30th Anniversary gathering at Yamaha headquarters. I have finally gathered all the pics of the event and am posting them here. Below is the email sent to me about the event by club president Yoshiaki Aoyama.

I really dig some of those early development pics of the bike, especially the wooden/clay mockup. Cool stuff!! 8-)

And here we have the intrepid photog, Mr. Yoshiaki Aoyama, head of the RZV500R club! :smt023

Aoyama-san gives us an explanation of the last photo he calls: "3-hips"....

AUTO STAFF SUEHIRO made 14 replicas of YZR500. SUEHIRO is a famous
custom-made motorcycle shop in Japan. This is the complete model made using the
engine of RZV, and the frame of TZR250 (3MA), and is called TZR500V4. These
three is that!

I like the blue one as well, did you notice they drilled holes in the black part of the left hand rear side panel?

They had a good turnout, never seen so many RZV`s in one place

Does the Japan RZV500 club have a website we can cruise or is it too much language barrier?

Not that I'm aware of, Colin. In his emails to me Yoshiaki has never included a link to any sort of "official" website for the club, but I am sending him an email today with a link to this post for him to share with his members, so I'll ask.

I also want to see if there's any possibility of getting our hands on a few of those 30th anniversary T-shirts I noticed a few of the guys wearing...

Spectacular. I wasn't far from there in July on a business trip but was was only free on the Sunday and the museum was closed. If I had been there when that was on I would have gone AWOL. Great pics of the design team cutting the cake, and the old wireframe CAD.
Any bets on how long it takes Steve Jackson to get a wooden engine?
