Well that works for assembly, but then once everything corrodes together you can't turn the bolt to undo it. That's why I'm changing things. The redesigned nut ends up with a 14mm hex head (same size as the hex head on the flange bolt I'm using) so undoing it should never be a problem.

One of the two bushes looks exactly the same. Broken identically.

Need to get some new ones machined.
Took a close look at the collars from my RZV frame.

Cracked, like the others. Cracks and pressure dings.

Here is mine.
The other one has no crack, but is completely worn out too.

Gents,

I'm interested in how you resolved this as i now find myself having issues with the linkage!

Thanks.

I made some titanium collars, but the answer is I'm also making steel (backup) collars, and remanufacturing the linkage parts with tighter tolerances. Also using roller bearings and will have (backup) bronze bushings to replace the OEM plastic bushings.

Waiting for the relay arm drawings, then I'll make the relay arms and the rest of this stuff.

Thanks Smoker,

Do you have a part number or similar and contact details of the place where you're getting hold of the roller bearings and the bronze bushes?

Don't know, yet. Finding new machine shops.

Also, my stuff doesn't work with the OEM parts. I think there are other guys making OEM sized collars, bushings, etc.

I have already asked a local company to make the collars.

As far as I remember the price was in the region of ~30€/pc if I order 50 of them.
Steel, surface hardened and ground to the specifications of a needle roller bearing.

Can also be used with the original plastic or a brass bearing as it is much harder than the original.
But I can`t promise that it will not break like the original with the original mounting hardware.
Never had time to think in detail about a better solution for mounting this collars.

Anyone interested in a set? I don`t need 50pc

I am looking for a solution to replacing the NLA part numbers (90380-18140 bushing & 90387-107K4 collar) for the frame mounted shock linkage.

Has anyone had any of these parts made for the OEM application? I am primarily looking to replace the hardened steel bushing, though a matching set of bushing/collar would be ideal.

These parts would be something that I would expect Yambits to carry, but I was not able to find them on their web site. Someone had mentioned that perhaps Rick Lance may have a replacement kit (works with either the steel or aluminum frame version), but I went to his web site and didn't see any mention of any Yamaha RZ/RZV/RD500 solutions/products anymore... Is he only dealing with the RG500 now?

As far as I know, no one has yet made replica OEM parts of this type.

Someone should make complete replacement sets. The parts aren't very expensive to have made, and it seems like almost every RZ500 on the planet needs them. And they could be the only source!

As already mentioned, I just need to order the bushes from a local company.
The Yamaha parts are not hardened and I guess they are made out of cheap steel.
I would make them according to needle bearing specification - also perfect for the plastic bushes.

The plastic bushes are no problem, can be made on every (CNC) lathe.
I assume the set would cost ~80€ (for 50pc/25 sets made)

Anyone interested? Then I would ask another company for the correct plastic material and prices.

Once the specifics are in, I would be very interested in a set of bushings/plastic collars for the linkage. Perhaps if others would check their linkages, realizing the condition of these parts, more interest would be generated.

Do let us know if you finalize material and fabrication costs, along with an idea of shipping to the major continents.

Thanks again for your efforts!

Yesterday I finalized the spec`s and sent out the inquiry for the plastic bushings, information about the price should be available within 24h...
Maybe this company (specialized on plastic bearings) can also deliver the steel collars to a lower price, but unfortunately they do not have diameter 18mm as standard material.

In worst case I can buy full plastic material from them and ask a friend for CNC machining.
But in this case I guess we will need some try`s to get the correct press fit in the relay arms and the correct resulting inside diameter.
