Custom Rear Sets - Now with Pics

#1 Post by dopaytoplay » Fri Apr 10, 2015 12:54 am

Hey guys,

I was thinking about doing a small run of ten sets of the trickest rear sets for the RZ 500.

They would be adjustable in just about every way possible, without a million holes. The pegs would be able to go up, down, forward, and back. All you would have to supply is a newer style master cylinder.

They also come with folding shifter peg and brake peg. I was not going to use a folding foot peg, but if somebody had to have it, I'm sure I could adjust it for a few extra dollars.

These are all going to be 6061 Billet aluminum. They are being made in the USA so they will not be Chinese knock-offs.

These would be like nothing that has been put on the RZ 500.

They would be a little pricey (between $500 and $550), but I think when people see how totally custom these are, they would understand the price. I'm not trying to get rich, but I figured there might be an interest in these.

I should have pictures of the prototype next week.

Is there any interest in these?

Thanks,
Jay

I guess people are waiting for the prototype pics.

I'm going to try to do my own thing, but I'm still anxious to see what you come up with.

I would be interested as well if they are as trick as you say they are. Don't think the price is that bad for a custom part for our bikes as they aren't available anywhere else. Not too fond of the folding levers so would non folding be an option? No mention of a shifter rod. Are you supplying that?

Alright, here are a few pictures.

These adjust forward, backward, up, and down. I will be trying to take a video to show how much these adjust. These are so adjustable that it would be extremely difficult for me to show all of the combinations in the pictures.

The frame mount bolts will be countersunk. There will also be one more set of adjustment holes to lower them even a little more. These can also be used for GP shifting or regular shifting. The master cylinder side will take a Suzuki GSXR 1000 master cylinder.

I am having my machinist make five sets of the mounts. I already have the rear sets, just need to give my machinist the go ahead on the mounts. I have two black, two grey and black, and one set in gold. I will have these completed and ready to ship in two weeks.

Let me know. Feel free to call or pm me with any questions.

Thanks,
Jay

They look great.
But will the shift rod interfere with the kickstand which isn't mounted in the pictures?

Thanks. What is the color of the set in your pictures, black or gray/black? Also any idea if a stock rear master cylinder matches the bolt pattern of the Suzuki one?

The color in the last pic is the black ones. Here are a couple of pictures of the black and grey ones.

I think I might re-ano the black and grey ones and make them clear or clear aluminum ano instead. If anybody wants them like that, I would have to get $550 out of those sets, since I will have to press new bearings in the shifter and brake pedal. Please look at the new pics.

All rear sets will also come with heel guards and the master cylinder brake pedal spring. To answer the master cylinder question, this will take a newer R1 master cylinder, a GSXR master, and in one pic I showed it with a CRF 450R master. That's what's so good about these. With a little creativity, you can set them up however you want.

I would like to hear your guys' feedback on these.

Thanks,
Jay
