Can the RZV rear shock be rebuilt
Anyone had it done, can recommend a rebuilder?
Re: Can the RZV rear shock be rebuilt
Pretty sure its welded shut, and non rebuildable.
Re: Can the RZV rear shock be rebuilt
My 350LC shock was rebuilt by a MotoX shop (in the UK) and works very well indeed, certainly vastly better than the saggy assed item I removed from the bike... my friend also had his "non rebuildable" Kawasaki KR1S shock rebuilt and re-sprung by these guys at Silverstone, they focus mainly on racing cars but are bikers at heart, so never say never..

Drill a hole in, weld a valve onto it and it`s "rebuldable" in future.
Already asked a german company, they told me they can do it for ?100€? don`t know the exact price.
Until now I did not find out how they fill it in the factory, but as far as I can judge there is no weld or anything else after zinc plating which is done before assembly.
Maybe they assemble the shock inside a pressure chamber?!
I need a small tool to disassemble the shock in pressurized condition.
The cap at the bottom of the shock needs to be pushed in a bit to remove the wire ring which isn`t so easy with pressure inside...

Re: Can the RZV rear shock be rebuilt
Thanks for the link Fozzy, I need an RZV shock done, as it barely passed an MOT (as it had no rebound damping). Doubt it would pass agian, need to get it done so I can register the bike. Had it too long without a V5, before NOVA was around.fozzy17 wrote:yes re-buildable a friend of mine had his done recently
