Exploded view of rear wheel bearings and seals please

#1 Post by Jarrettvp » Mon May 22, 2017 6:58 pm

Anyone got one? Also, I want to strip the bearings and replace them, any recommendations on how to get them out (do they need pressing out).

Thanks.

I can do a "manual" at home.

If you remove the cage and the balls of the correct side bearing you can press out the other side easy.
Afterwards you add the inner ring and 3 balls to the remaining bearing and you can press out the other side.

I will show which side you should remove and why ;)

Not an exploded view but you can see what`s inside the wheel...
The red line is representing the wheel shape.

I have described the method I`m using for removing the wheel bearings.
It is also possible to simply weld something into one bearing to have a face to put force on.
With my method you have to know where this centering metal cap is.
If you try to push in the bearing rubber cover on the right side you will destroy this centering cap behind the bearing.

To split the cage i simply grind off the heads of the rivets.
When you move all the balls to one side it`s possible to remove the inner ring (needs a bit of force to get it out)
After that you will not get the spacer out of the wheel because of this pressed on centering cap on the right side - you have to push it out to the right side together with the right side bearing.
The spacer is quite soft, use some wood to apply force on it.
Then there is only the left outer bearing ring left inside the wheel, simply assemble the bearing again with 3 balls and push it out.

Hope it helps
