Quick answer needed please

#1 Post by Trig » Thu Jul 19, 2018 6:17 pm

Rode the 500 tonight with a bit 'more anger' and had the front end bottom out on the brakes.

Its a bog std set up, factory spec.............

So what do I need to do?
Do I need to pack the springs, if so by how much?
Does it need more oil?
Does it need a different grade of oil?

Bike is going back to owner on Monday so need to 'fix' it quick......!!!

Thanks!

Start by pulling the forks and properly servicing them. They shouldn't bottom out, not even in stock form.

When you are talking about the front end, there is no quick fix. There is the proper way and the wrong way.

The stock springs could be completely wrong for your weight and riding style, as mentioned make sure they are properly serviced then set the sag. Adding spacers or preload will not alter the weight of spring. Adding more oil could make the forks hydraulic lock sooner in the forks travel.
also have you got the anti dives fitted and working as they should.

Forks have just been fully rebuilt, new oil, seals and dust seals....springs are within spec.
Andi dives have been stripped, unsiezed and rebuilt.
