RZV500 fork ends

#1 Post by robert » Fri Jun 30, 2006 4:22 pm

Just wondering if the RZV500 fork ends fit on the RZ500 forks. Are the RZV500 fork ends available anywhere (new or used)?

I had a look on the RZV fiche and it looks like the part numbers are 98706-05010/15R-23168-00/51X-23111-01. Is this correct?

Also, on the top of the fiche is part 51X-2318J-01. What is this item?

Thanks

robert

Hello,

The part no`s you quote are correct, but there are a lot more bits to make RD forks match RZV forks.

part 51X-2318J-01 - is an air balance tube between the two forks .

Therefore you can assume that the chrome fork legs are different, ie they have a hole in the legs to allow the air to do it`s job.

IMHO I doubt if you would notice any difference between the forks, on my RZV I have tried the different settings on the adjusters ( part no 15R-23168-00) and i can`t tell any real difference.

Unless you can get a pair of forks at a reasonable price second hand< Iwouldn`t bother about it.

Standard front forks on the RD, RZ & RZV were never that good to start with.
I'd reccoment that you try upgrade the complete front end and change to 17in wheels at the same time.
Unless you're looking to keep it stock standard.
