Looking for a new wiring harness

#1 Post by PaulGreen » Wed Feb 08, 2012 8:31 am

Hi,

I'm looking for a new wiring loom, I've read that they're still available from Yamaha but the old Google search hasn't come up with anything.

Does anybody have a link/contact they can post?

Cheers,
Paul.

Paul

Try Fowlers of Bristol or "ezpezie" on eBay

Cheers

Pete

Hi Pete,

Thanks, I'll give these a go as I've had either no luck or no response from all of my efforts so far.

I did get a reply from one supplier saying what a wonderful bike the rd500 is but sadly no wiring loom!.

Cheers,
Paul.

Hi Paul. I have seen the electrical loom, new, for sale on EAJ. It is not an OEM part but they state that is better than the original and they sell (when shown) for 31500 Yen. This Japan base manufacturer make electrical loom for different models of motorcycles. You need to look at the EAJ web because they will show up. It might be your solution, They also auction the original looms removed from dismantled RZV500R and they usually go for about 800 Yen and up. Ciao.

Sandro,
Thanks very much for that, i'll have a look out for it - and get the calculator out!

Fowlers have quoted me £265 for a new one, genuine Yamaha I think.

I'm cosidering making one, I've found various sites selling all the bits I'd need. Has anybody else done this? Just wondering how much hassle it would be for a £200ish saving.

Thoughts/opinions appreciated as always.

Cheers,
Paul.

I bit the bullet and bought a new OEM loom from EZPEZIE in Singapore for $280.00

I tried a couple salvage looms and they are as to be expected for 30 year old heat soaked looms. Not good shape.

I believe a new OEM loom is money well spent.

I'm on ezpezies mailing list for when/if they get more in, they're all out of stock at the minute.
Also dubious about looking for 30 year old replacement.

Cheers,
Paul.

Do you remember what it cost? Just wondering if it's worth hanging on for one to come up for sale?

Cheers,
Paul.

Steve,
I regularly lurk about on eBay and i'be missed out on a couple due to the intermittant signal at work.
I'd assumed I'd have to rewind the stator as it's out of spec and not looking in great shape. To be honest it's been a while since I tested these parts but I think the pick up coil was ok.
Are there still some nos stators floating about?

Cheers,
Paul

I'm still contemplating making a wiring harness. I want to take one of the round, weatherproof multiplugs (i.e. like on the powervalve motor connection) with the rubber bases apart to have a proper look. Any pointers?

Cheers,
Paul.
