The reason for the two parts numbers is they have different length leads.

Yes,other than leads, they are techincally identical. Not sure about the 3MA coil,it has it`s own part number 3MA8231010.
The short lead coil 47x8231050 is no longer available but is superceded by the longer lead coil 47x8232050 which is available.

Steve
Thanks, great info.

I will go dig out my 3MA coil an see if any spec is displayed on it.
Just test the primary and secondary resistances to see if they are in spec and match the 500. From memory some suzuki ones are the same (bandit I think) I also think my TZr and TDR are pretty close.

I picked up a set of RD500 coils last year (including the brackets) and both test out the same, as Steve said the only difference was the length of the plug wires.

cheers

it is the Aim unit, compact easy to use robust light

as regards your existing equipment, as you have moved it as far as possible from the believed source

Would it not be worth wrapping all wires in a braided type of wrapping or screening material, might be worth alook on some of the IT sites for products, also it may be worth skinning the inside of the seat with some electrically reflective material, perhaps as an experiment you could try wrapping in cooking foil (shoplifters do this on security devices....apparently) if the symptoms go, then look for a more suitable material, just an idea

On another note,I know you are trying to shed weight, how much weight is your existing equipment ?
There may be a weight gain to be had by using a different system ?
