hi have you checked the coil pick up sensor generator side the white /red
and the white/green wire get multi meter on volts kickstart bike and see if you get momentary voltage as you turn the bike then you know thats ok also check your getting voltage to cdi unit as it needs pickup sensor to send pulse signal to cdi trigger signal to coils also check ignition connector block also bullet connector for kill switch which is the red/orange wire tucked away by ignition block connector infront of airfilter hope this of some help good luck in your quest regards bill

thanks bill, i`ve checked some of the above..(pick up coil sensor) but i didn`t kick the bike over to check white/green wire for momentary voltage..to be honest i`m not to hot on the electrics..i just thought it must be the cdi...i have done a continuatey test though on the coils and i know they work because i tried them on a different bike and they spark,i also tested the mag, kill switch, earths but no sure about ignition(what wires do what)..thanks once again and i`ll let you know how i get on..cheers jim

hi jimboy no worries , i had a running problem with my bike i.e run one day put bike away try to start the next day woudn't start (no spark ) try the next day it would start , anyway get hold of a wiring diagram off the net and print a copy and place on garage wall also check the round block connectors if cdi is ok as you have said its hopefully going to be loose connectings also check secondary windings on alternator green red brown wires if you go to manual section on this site or send private mail and i'll email you a colour version of the wiring diagram , the service manual also shows you how to test these items and the spec/tolerence too.
to help you out regards bill
