52X vs 47X harness

#1 Post by kpke » Sat May 19, 2012 10:46 am

What is the difference between these 2 harnesses?

The one that came off my bike is 52X. I can barely read the tag. I bought a new harness off ebay (ezpezie) and thought I was getting the correct one. I will have to go back and look at emails with him.

I laid them both on the floor and the 47X has 2 areas that have more connectors/wiring and one area that has less. I know this info is a little vague.

I will try to post pics later but I thought someone might know what the difference might be. And if I can use the new 47X on my 85 Canadian RZ500???

Does 47X = RZV and 52X = RZ?

Help is appreciated!!!

Hello,

The 52X loom will have extra plugs for the side stand cut out switch and relay. You can use the 47x loom with hasn`t got these plugs but should be the same other than that.

The RZV 51X loom is different as it has a fuel tank sender unit and no indicator fasher cancel relay.

Thank you jackson.

That's good news. I will lay it in there today and check it out.

Really wanted to use this new one even tho I will have to mod it slightly.

I'm also installing a new 47X harness and have found that the connector for the left hand turn\headlight and horn switch harness connector is wired entirely opposite to the original.
A very small sized screwdriver poked under the connector in the plastic housing will release the connector so it can be reinserted into the proper housing hole so it will again match the new harness.

Hi Mike,

I don`t understand why the 52x Canada bikes have a different right hand switch gear.I have seen it in the 52x parts list with it`s own 52x part number. Can someone post a photo of the switch gear?.

Hi Steve,

I think the Canadian model has the lights hard wired - so no switch on the RH side switch block.

Cheers
Mark.

Thanks Mark,

The right hand switch gear part number 52x8397600 is changed to 1wv8397600 which is a Canadian rz350.I saw this switch gear on ebay last week and it had no light switch  .Thats why there is also no sidelight in the headlight on these bikes as the main light is on all the time.

Cheers Steve
