Calling zeeltronic CDI-RD500 owners

#1 Post by hybrid » Fri Jul 27, 2012 3:30 am

I'm trying to find a wiring diagram for the CDI-RD500 if anyone has one.. or can least tell me which wire colour is for the tacho.

I can't seem to get a decent tach signal, so I might be using the wrong wire.
The Zeeltronic website doesn't list the CDI controller any more - it looks like the VCDI and CDI are now in the same unit, and I can't find wiring diagrams.

Found it... hmmm.
No tacho wire is mentioned.

i thought 1 of the coiloutputs will do perfect

the new ones are much better , laptop programming + handheld . 3d curves , all in one ,switching between curves while riding etc...

the new units dual channels PCDIs , wich are actualy improved rgv/rs ones and more completed .work on the battery and no longer on altenator
basics remain only more possebilities

i agree with borut to focus more on an universal unit , but this all comes from the demands from RGV/TZR owners who wanted also the solenoids and tps functions on their bike

When my bike was injected I had a spare TPS and used it, but now I've just joined the wires together. I don't think it's required on a street bike. Neither are extra maps etc really. More to go wrong.

I can't seem to get a good tach signal. I've now tried two different dash units, and both have the same issue. I've tried wrapping around the lead, I've tried connecting to the positive coil wire, and I've tried to get a signal from the signal from CDI to PV controller. All of them have the RPM all over the place.

Have tried resistors in series... all sorts of stuff. Boruts newer units have a separate square wave tach feed, which I'm sure would work perfect, but I don't really want to buy another unit.. and even more so, I don't want to have to re-do all the wiring again. Borut also now sells a tach signal generator that works with CDI. I wonder if this is because you can't get a good tach signal from some CDI's.
Again though, I didn't want to try and squeeze yet another box in the front of the bike... might have no other option though.

if you ve a digital tach the signal from the coil is no good , only if you use the anolog units

digital units need square wave signal ofcourse , to fix that with analog signal you need to rectifie first and also need a smitt trigger port to form the square wave signal out , only for skilled people i guess , and i guess borut made that also

but if you re using original tachs , then the problem is maybe bad earth ,what other symptoms you have ? just the jumping tach ?

Both tachs were digital.
A Koso and an Acewell.
Although the Koso uses an "analog" needle for the tach.. it's circuitry in the back end will be digital.
The Acewell works fine on my 350LC. I think its just wrapped around the wire, but obviously the standard 350LC CDI works differently.

Sounds like I will have to buy one of boruts signal generators, or buy one of the new CDI's.
