Black tape for harness

#1 Post by kpke » Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:57 am

Some of you have done harness modifications and/or restorations.

I think there is a special tape for this application.

What tape did you use to wrap the harness with?

Where did you purchase it from?

Thank you!

Hi,

I've cleaned up my wiring harness. The tape's nothing special, just like self-amalgamating tape but without the sticky. As you stretch the tape around the harness it only sticks to itself rather than the wires.

Makes the harness look much cleaner. I got mine here in the UK but a quick google/ebay search for 'harness tape' will surely bring something closer to home.
I found that i needed to put a turn of electrical tape at the end of each run to help stop the tail coming loose.

Cheers,
Paul.

Beek put me onto some stuff called COROPLAST.

It's a cloth type harness tape. Works very well. If you're not looking to keep the bike completely stock, I would use this stuff for sure.

Thanks guys.

Not stock for sure so I will research as suggested.

I was mostly curious about the "stickiness" of the adhesive.

I know that regular electrical tape will separate or "move" and leave sticky goo all over.

Don't want that.

Hybrid, is Coroplast kinda a mesh tube that expands as push it to allow poking your plugs etc through?

Cheers
