wiring R6 headlights to RZ harness

#1 Post by kpke » Sun Dec 30, 2012 11:06 am

A few of you have put R6 body work on to your RZ.

Has anyone documented how to wire the R6 (2009 or so) headlight assemblies to the RZ wiring harness? :smt017

I would appreciate any help I can get here :smt100

Hi Ken
Try get both wiring diagrams (R6 diagram shouldn't be too hard to find), then compare them. The headlight(s) and lighting circuit might need a higher rated fuse. But you should be able to work out what wires are what. Side lights, main beam and high beam.
There could be a different plug shape on the R6 so you might try to find another RD500 headlight wiring loom plug.
Good luck

The 2012 parts unlimited book, has alot of OEM style plugs available. Check with your local bike shop who is a P.U. dealer, and take a look.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have purchased tons of electrical connectors/pins/crimper from Vintage Connections. I can wire it in making a jumper from the R6 lights to the RZ harness.

I have spent a bit of time searching for R6 schematic and have been unsuccessful. I would have thought it would have been easily found on the web.

At this time I was hoping to save time by someone having done the homework already.

As much as I have tried, I am unable to buy time  and it seems to be in shorter supply these days.

Happy New Year to all :D :D :D
