Speedo Change 180k - 240k RVV500
Hi,
New here, have purchased a RZR500 from the land of the rising sun.
Not keen on the 180km speedo.
Any issue replacing it with a 240km one?
How long would you expect it to take to change?
I will post some pictures once it arrives.
cheers

Or just buy a new one from Yamaha. They are still available.jackson.40 wrote:There is a reset 240kph speedo on ebay.

That eBay Speedo is a bit of a hack job. It could have had 80K on it for all we know. I've opened speedometers and tachometers and it is possible to do it with making such a mess of it.

Interesting...
Now what do I do when its time to sell and I have a new speedo on it?
And what's it do to the value?
NZminis... just brought this off your old man.
Hope he did as good a job servicing this thing as he did rebuilding your motor.
Spoke very highly of you and looking at your collect at your age I am impressed.
Seems like a nice guy.
cheers

It`s not that bad,the guy has done a few of them. The white dial still has a good colour and not too faded, looks like it`s from a low mileage bikeThat eBay Speedo is a bit of a hack job

Steve, you have more faith in people than I do
I just talked to Yamaha here. The speedo is listed here as backordered and $297 Cdn plus taxes new. Typically backordered here is 2 weeks or less. Every now and then it turns into NLA, but that has only happened to me once.
Ebay is full of FZ700/750 speedos and they are cheap.
For example http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_odkw=yam ... o&_sacat=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Speedo Change 180k - 240k RVV500
Hi Silverstrom,
I'm also looking for a speedo (somehting with MPH). Would you happen to know the part number of the speedo which is on backorder? I can check here in Japan for it.
Cheers,
Shayne

Re: Speedo Change 180k - 240k RVV500
ahhh i see
the old man told me that you had been looking on here
yes you do need the 240km speedo . i got that bike off the clock and preety far past the 180kph
he had 2 Rzvs , the one you got and a lesser bike bit rough
i was down there a few weeks ago .. i cant rember what bike it was but one has got a 42 tooth rear sprocket , i got on that one and went for a ride got into powerband on a small street and it lifted the front wheel real easy . heaps of fun
you should be happy with that bike , do rember the anti dive and the front brakes are not very good on any 500 and they do vibrate alot . even my motor that has just been rebuild does
keep an eye out for some fzr400 calipers and some anti dive block off plates . thats if you are going to keep the stock forks and wheels
what about a speedo off something 4 stroke . fzr ? yzf ? fz? i think most yamaha have the same drive and turns per km etc
