YPVSservo not moving when I turn ignition on

#1 Post by Jeppe500 » Fri Jan 24, 2014 12:04 pm

Got to ask.....

I just started up my bike (just for the fun of it).

Noticed that the YPVS-servo didn´t do the "cycles it use to do.
Is this a symtom you get when the CDI/ YPVS-box is not working properlyor is fault ?
Nothing electrical rewiring has been done exept for the Cable thats go to the frame attaced to the batterybox.....just removed the box and attaced the Cable direct to the frame.

How do I do to check the YPVS-controllbox or CDI that it´s working or cracked ?
And wich box is it that controlls the YPVS ?

i washed my bike one day and it got water in the ypvs box and it did the same thing would not cycle

under the cdi

just check the wires and plug and you may want to open the box up and blow it out carefully . or use contact cleaner on it, i also sprayed a little wd40 on it befor i put it back together

just have a play and wiggle things while working the key and see if it kicks back into life

Mine did the same thing and was a loose connection in the box. I resoldered all the connections on circuit board. Careful, lots of small connections. Magnifying glass and small tip soldering iron. Before I resoldered I put a couple of extra washers under one mount which put in a slight bind and it worked. Goodluck

Hi all !
Found some info in the manual how to check the YPVS.
So I took my multimetertool and went down to the garage.
All spec. And voltage are ok and also checker that the servomotor
is okay.
So if I got it right I will have to replace the YPVS.

Hi Stamper !
I will check the box on the inside this evening and see if I can find
any faulty spots in it/ on it.

Small tip solder iron. Put skittle flux on tip and keep it clean. Magnifying glass and just touch each one and you will see it melt and that is it. Practice on something like old radio. I have done mine twice. Hard part is keeping track of which ones you do

Have some experience of soldering so
it shouldn't be any problem redoing the
connectors.
But not sure if it will cure the box ?!?
Looks like a shortcircuit to me.
But that I will found out....soon ! ;-)

That is good thing. I sure that will fix it. Would like the Zeeltronic one. No time soon

I'm a bit surpriced !!
Took of a bit of the protecting plasticshield
on the circuit board.
The soldering looked like it had a bit of rust,
oxidation on it.
Maybe due to it lacked plasticprotection !?
Well....I gently took of the oxidation/ rust
and cleaned it up best I could.
Then I went down to the garage and pluged
it in, turned the ignition on and to my surprice
I heard the sound of the servomotors "zzzz-zzzz".

I'm glad that it's okay for now.
But....for how long ?!

Both the YPVS-box and the CDI cicuitboard is
soon 30 years old.....
Maybe it's time to get some new electronic
on the bike !?!?
Zeeltronic is an option (I'we heard/read).
What does it cost and howe hard can it be
to install/ program ??

No telling what burnt out. Might be functioning but who knows what the rpm range is. Was it a resistor, capacitor, or what ?

The damage was in the middle of the rektangular 40-legged
chip on the card.

That is not good. Sounds like a new module. By the way what time is it and temperature at home?
