My RZV tank is like your top picture. I'm pretty sure it's never been removed. My fuel gauge is "wavy" too. What have you done to fix it

i thought top one was right .

on the bottom picture ,above my fingers the small box looking thing .

take that off and there is a small board with wire going across it . they have to be tight and evenly spaced .

all 3 of mine were out one of the boards was not stright and was bowed

. i just used a little needle pick and made them all stright and tested it and it seemed to have fixed it

take it apart and have a play around .you will see what i mean when you take the little cover off

good luck

Mines been like that for years, bouncing around!!! Horrible!!!
I've spent some time looking into this problem and the only reason I can see for this wavy operation is due to a capacitor located in the gauge circuit that acts like a damper, that's no longer working, most RZV fuel gauges are now bouncing around due to their age.
I've looked at the fuel float and it's a basic resistance voltage devider, all the gauge operation (and damping) seems to be done inside the gauge housing using electronc circuits.

All electrolytic caps degrade over time, so there's not much you can do to prevent this happening.

And because these fuel/temp gauges are sealed around the edges, most will stay that way.

Mine still works... just take the average of the bounce!!!

Did the FJ have a fuel gauge??? :smt017
