500 Two-Stroke Tech

I'm organizing a group purchase for new RZV main harnesses and connector sets. The replica harness is very close in appearance to the OEM part. It has the provision for the RZV fuel level sender. The set of connectors are the component side connectors which are used to restore the "other side" of the connector.

This shop can also recreate RD/RZ spec harnesses but will need a sample harness to copy. The shop also can produce custom harness configurations on request.

The RZV harness currently comes in 3 configurations.

Type A - Identical to the OEM RZV harness.

Type B - RZV harness PLUS 1 ACC outlet which is located in the upper cowl area.

Type C - RZV harness but main fuse is changed to a blade-type fuse and relocated to the cowl area and all fuses will be blade-type fuses in a new fuse box which is provided.

I'd like a harness, but it's too soon for me. I'm not sure how and where my electricals will be located once the OEM bodywork goes bye-bye.

Hi Pete,

No problem. Let me know when you need your harness. The shop can also custom build a harness if you provide a sample. The sample could be made from an old harness. It doesn't need to be a working sample.

I'm also planning to have the shop build a harness for my Costin YZR replica in the future.

The shop had only one set in stock. The Yamaha connectors are on back order. The shop will contact me when they receive more connectors.

I just received my wiring loom and connectors - I'm very pleased with the quality of them.

It would be nice to get a RZ/ RD500 loom done at some point as well.

Let's hope there is more interest in the wiring looms than you've seen so far. Having spent a lot of money restoring two bikes I wasn't happy to put old wiring back on them. I managed to purchase a new loom from Yamaha UK about a year ago - sadly I discovered that they have gone NLA now so it was nice to see this quality after-market loom available.

If someone would be willing to let the shop borrow an RZ/RD harness, they would be able to duplicate it as well. The shop only has the schematics for the RZV harness.

Still waiting on the connectors...

Hi Shayne,

I've got a new RD500 harness and a used RD500 harness which is dirty and oily. Would they need the new harness to work with and can I confirm that they wouldn't need to cut into it to check the internal wiring out ? - I assume an oily old harness wouldn't be nice to work on ?
