Tachometer

#1 Post by Jeff B » Sun Dec 11, 2005 10:14 pm

Does anyone have any experience with these tachometers?

Half the site is in english, but the other half is quite confusing. They appear to be similar to the SPA tachometers, but fewer options and maybe a bit cheaper. I'm wondering if they'll read mph? The site doesn't mention it.

HI

Simple answer is I do not know. However there is a direct relationship between MPH and KPH, so if it relys on a magnet and trigger on the wheel, setting it up so it 'misreads' - for every 8 KM covered only reads 5 - it will be reading MPH. Simulaly if it is a hall effect from the front sprocket, either programme in 5/8ths of the actual number of teeth or make a "washer" with the right number of teeth - again 5/8 (or there abouts) of what you need. Will read 50kph when you are actually doing 80 kph, which is near as damn-it 50 MPH. 5 miles = 8.0465 Km. 1 mile = 1.6093 Km
