Replacement coils

#1 Post by Dubsey » Sun Jan 13, 2008 3:40 pm

Started to install the electrics in to my bike (mock up), and have discovered that on one of the coils, the pins that insert in to the ht lead have rotted away !
So as the bike is highly modified, I thought i'd replace the standard coils with performance after market ones.
I keep coming across Dyna Coils, but not sure which ones to purchase ? Has anybody had any experience with these or any others and what resistance should I be looking for ?

Cheers

It would appear that the dyna dc 9-1 0.7ohm coils are the correct ones

Yamaha specs are:

primary winding 0.67ohm +/- 20% secondary winding 12Kohm +/- 20%

which is in the same spec as the dyna coils

Dubsey, I never really checked ohm's but I run OEM Banshee coils on mine, seem to work just fine.

Hi Dubsey,

Did you change your coils to the Dyna ones in the end?

If so how do they perform? any better than standard?

Cheers Vin
