Wobbly Temp Guage

#1 Post by rubberfingers » Sun Sep 26, 2010 4:46 am

Hi guys

I mentioned this on another thread somewhere in the past but never managed to find a fix for it.

Basically when riding and the bike is up to working temp the temp guage needle 'wobbles'. It does not swing all the way round the clock but keeps moving a few degrees up and down as to whre the temp actually is (around 1/3 of the way up the guauge normally).

Anyone else expereince this and have a fix for it?

thanks

Andy

Sounds like it might be a bad earth on the temp circuit???
Or if there is some type of 'damper' in circuit that's broken.

I know Steve (Jackson) has just stripped a full set of gauges, he might see your thread and post a comment.

Sorry couldn't help???

Hello all

Digging up an old thread as I thought about finally getting round to fixing my wobbly gauge. I have been through the troubleshooting checks in the manual and the gauge moves when its earthed. However when I check the voltage from temp sender connector it shows 5.2V. The manual says check for voltage but does not specify what that should be?

Is anyone else able to measure the voltage between the gauge wire and earth and let me know how many volts they are getting?

thanks

Andy

The voltage from the sender is obviously going to change with temperature, so you really can't compare to anyone else.

Good point I just thought at ambient air temp it would be in a similar range

Yeah if someone lives in an area that's at the same temp that would give you an idea.
