Hi there, trying to source the metal securing plate which fixes the belly pan stone guard, part number 47X-28396-00.

If anyone can help please let me know. Many thanks, Sam.

I`m planning to do some, but the tools costs are quite high - it doesnt make sense to do only 3 or 4 of them.

It`s a pressed part, not just laser cutting and a bit bending.
At least I`m not happy with my work if you can see a difference to the original :smt003

If there are enough (10+) who are interested in one I would put it on top of the priority list and order the tools.

Send me a PM for details.

I've managed to source one, however I did notice that the contours and profile of my RZV fairings did not suit the mesh guard and upper securing bracket perfectly. All parts are original but I suspect after 32 years the fairings have 'relaxed' their shape. However I made a few reversible modifications to the bracket and it now fits perfectly. I would say any good machine shop with laser / water jet cutting and a press brake could create these upper brackets, but it'd be worth checking the dimensions against your fairing to ensure a perfect fit. The mesh guard is designed with an inner and outer flange, to sit either side of the fairing return edge, this flange on the mesh did not adequately pinch the fairing return, hence the need to check both the mesh and upper securing bracket fit against your fairings. I'm afraid this doesn't help in sourcing a part, but may prove useful when re-engineering some.

Do you have some pictures which are showing the problem?

Did you use the rubber pieces 47X-28345-00?

No I couldn't source the rubber inserts, I'll try and add a photo of the finished job.

You need the 2 mole pieces for a somewhat secure fit.

The stone guard is nice to have so the bike is complete, but installing it just puts it one step closer to falling off, as most have. The fitment is poor even when done properly. If you plan to leave it installed find a way to secure it so it stays with the bike just in case it doesn't stay in the position it's meant to be. Or, do as many of us have done and keep it in box and not on the bike. It really serves no practical purpose.

Here's a picture, really pleased with the fit. I used 2mm ABS plastic bonded to the original parts to extend their 'grip' onto the fairings. Then used 1mm self adhesive foam to prevent rubbing against the paint.

Nice work Sam

Some owners cable tie the guard just in case it comes lose and falls out.

Exactly the point I was trying to make Steve. You can also use a piece of thin wire attached to something that won't fall off or attached to a tab mounted inside the panel. Those guards are in one of two states; about to fall off, of has already fallen off. That would explain why so many people are trying to find them now.

The stone guard is now unavailable from Yamaha, I can see the price of these going only one way in the years ahead
