RD500 fueltank measurements for painting

#1 Post by torp68 » Sun Mar 04, 2018 9:23 am

About to start sanding down old panels and tank and have them repainted (by myself...).
I do have one front fairing and one side panel with decals, so I'm covered there.

The tank is a different matter, as I only have a repainted one with no decals.

Do any of you have any measurements available to have the red paint put on correctly??
Also the width of the white stripe between the red and blue would be appreciated. Seems to be increasing slightly moving forward....?
Finally the placement of the Yamaha decal.

The decal set I bought contains blue stripes, so with the requested info I should be covered. The info might be on here somewhere, but I cannot find it......

Regards
Oyvind

I took these photos when I painted some tanks in 2016. This is how I do all of my tanks. The last photo shows the fine line tape outlining the area of the tank to paint solid red.

Great stuff!! Thanks for sharing this! Really appreciate it!!
(You wouldn't happen to have the exact placement of the YAMAHA decal on the tank also...??)

My pleasure.

I don't have an exact placement for the Yamaha decal, but if you look at the placement relative to the tank opening on top you'll get what you need.
